Monthly Webinar Series

Education without leaving your office

Texas MGMA is dedicated to providing continuing education. In addition to our annual conference, we offer monthly webinars - providing members and their staff education from the comfort and ease of the office.  Attending a webinar is a great way to learn from industry experts on hot topics in healthcare and earn CE credit. Webinars are 60 minutes long, offered live and include a Q&A session with the speakers.

Webinars are also recorded and available for our members on-demand from the Online Education Button after you log in to your Member Center!

Live webinars and our on-demand webinar library are a FREE benefit of Texas MGMA Membership

Making Kind & Honest Feedback a Team Habit - Gretchen Napier, SHRM

ABOUT THE WEBINAR: One of the primary barriers to effective leadership is lack of effective feedback to staff. The primary reason most leaders do not provide helpful feedback is because it feels uncomfortable. Giving feedback, especially criticism, is painfully difficult, but it is still your duty as a leader to give it. On the other hand, if you deliver the feedback in a harsh or overbearing way, it may do more damage than it helps. You owe it to people to help them improve and to help them improve at the earliest possible moment.

Objectives:

• Discover the harm done when company culture limits feedback

• Review a simple framework for providing effective feedback

• Develop strategies for encouraging feedback from your team

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Gretchen Napier is a Medical Practice Specialist at SVMIC. She is certified with the Society for  Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Senior Certified Professional, Care Management Certified by the National Association of Certified Care Managers (NACCM), a Fellow of the Leadership Academy of the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA), and a member of the Board of Directors for ALCA. Prior to joining SVMIC, Gretchen dedicated ten years as Owner and CEO of LifeLinks, LLC with offices in Nashville, TN and Raleigh, NC where interdisciplinary teams of RNs, Social Workers and Physical Therapists partnered with families to provide expert guidance so they could make the best decisions and obtain the best care for aging and special needs loved ones. Other previous roles include LTSS Assistant Deputy Chief of Quality, Accountability and Innovation at TennCare and Administrator in independent and assisted living facilities.

Gretchen earned a Bachelor’s in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
